Pretty Isn't Enough: 7-Point Conversion Checklist for Hospital Websites

The Real Purpose of a Hospital Website

Many clinics treat their website as just "something we need to have." They invest in beautiful design, but appointment calls and online inquiries don't increase.

A hospital website's purpose isn't to be pretty—it's to convert. Making visitors decide "I want to visit this clinic." That's the website's job.

7-Point Conversion Checklist

1. Can visitors identify core info within 3 seconds?

Within 3 seconds of landing, visitors should see: what specialty, where you're located, and what makes you different. A hero section full of beautiful images but no information drives bounces.

2. Is the call button always visible on mobile?

Over 70% of hospital website visitors are on mobile. The call button must be fixed on screen regardless of scroll position — sticky bottom bar format is most effective.

3. Is the booking form 3 steps or fewer?

If you accept online bookings, the form must be concise: name + phone + specialty (step 1), preferred date/time (step 2), confirm and submit (step 3). Forms with 10+ fields see dramatic drop-off.

4. Does the doctor profile build trust?

Patients care most about "who will treat me." Include specialist qualifications, career highlights, procedure volume, and natural (not overly staged) photos.

5. Does every procedure page have a CTA?

When a patient finishes reading about a procedure and thinks "I want this" — there must be an immediate next action available. No CTA at the bottom means the patient thinks about it and leaves.

6. Does the directions page have sufficient detail?

A map alone isn't enough. Include subway exit numbers, walking time, bus stops, parking options, and building floor information.

7. Does the mobile site load in under 3 seconds?

53% of mobile visitors bounce if loading exceeds 3 seconds. Optimize images (WebP), remove unused scripts, and leverage CDN.

A website isn't "done" once it's built. Continuously audit and improve the visitor-to-patient conversion pathway.
